Meta Ad Library teardown · Indian botanical skincare
Every competitor in your price band is buying attention on Meta right now. I pulled their live ads to see exactly what they run — and where the gap is that Dipsy could walk straight into.
01 — The finding
I searched the Meta Ad Library for Dipsy skincare and dipsy.store — India, all statuses, including ads that have stopped running. Both came back empty. That is not a criticism; it is a starting position. It means every rupee of demand Dipsy has created so far came from organic, and none of it came from an auction your competitors have been sitting in for years.

02 — What is actually running
RAS Luxury Oils sells at Dipsy's shelf price: 24K Gold Radiance Elixir ₹2,290, Bakuchiol Night Cream ₹2,190, Multivitamin Day Cream ₹1,990. It did ₹53.2 Cr in FY25, up 58%, and raised a $7.5M Series B led by Dabur Ventures in March 2026. It is the closest thing to a proof-of-concept for what Dipsy is building.
Its most-repeated live creative is not the hero product. It is a three-product bundle priced below the hero — first seen running on 26 December 2024 and still being freshly deployed in July 2026. Twenty months on one offer is not a promotion. It is the acquisition engine.

Bootstrapped to ₹38.32 Cr in FY24, up 42%, selling between ₹290 and ₹1,689. Roughly 380 live ads, and almost all of them are the same idea: one ordinary named woman, four weeks, one botanical, one visible result. Not models. Not product beauty shots. Aunties and colleagues, filmed week by week.

Three mechanics repeat across the whole account: a bundle priced under ₹1,000 as the entry point, a first-order discount baked into the landing URL itself, and counted proof in the copy — "Loved & Repurchased By 15 Lakh+ People". The hook structure never changes: [botanical] + [what it fixes] + [how long it takes].
Premium Himalayan botanicals, a deliberately tiny range, "dermatologically & clinically tested", no reviews displayed on site. Structurally, it is almost exactly Dipsy. It has run no Meta ads at all — and Reliance Retail announced its acquisition of the brand on 9 March 2026.
So the no-ads path is real. But look at how it ran: Good Earth and Taj Hotels first, then Tata CLiQ Luxury, AJIO Luxe, Tira, Nykaa and Myntra. Curated distribution supplied the credibility that reviews and ads supply everywhere else. It is a legitimate strategy — it just doesn't run through your own site, and it takes years. If the plan is to sell from dipsy.store, the ad auction is the only other door.
03 — Three openings
These are sequenced deliberately. Spending on ads before the first two are in place mostly buys expensive proof that the funnel isn't ready.
Every comparable brand has built a cheaper door. RAS: any three products for ₹1,399. Vilvah: a ₹999 combo. Nat Habit: ₹250 off over ₹999. Forest Essentials: three complimentary samples over ₹5,000. Kama Ayurveda: a website-exclusive "Minis" range.
Dipsy's cheapest possible first purchase is ₹1,999 — above Nykaa's entire FY25 beauty AOV of ₹2,021. A cold click is being asked to make its largest-ever category decision on first contact with a brand it has never heard of.
| Brand | Hero SKU | Advertised entry offer | Mechanic |
|---|---|---|---|
| RAS Luxury Oils | ₹2,290 | ₹1,399 | Any 3 products bundle |
| Vilvah | ₹640 | ₹999 | 2-step combo + 10% off first order |
| Nat Habit | ₹269 | ₹749 net | ₹250 off over ₹999 |
| Dipsy | ₹1,999 | None | Floor is the hero price |
RAS's hero elixir carries 4.88★ across 1,537 reviews with the star distribution visible. Vilvah's hero serum carries 4.8★ across 2,581, plus a live counter on the page: "60,000+ people bought this product in last 50 days." Dipsy's two products display zero reviews.
Forest Essentials and Pahadi Local also show no reviews — but they borrow their proof from 200 stores, Taj, Good Earth and Nykaa shelves. Dipsy has neither the reviews nor that distribution yet, which means paid traffic would land on an unproven ₹2,999 cleanser and bounce.
Vilvah's entire ad account is real named women documented over four weeks. RAS puts its co-founder in front of the lens. This is the format the category rewards, and it is the one thing a 1,500-follower brand can produce at the same quality as a ₹50 Cr brand.
The gap is in the hook. "Malli Malli" and "Teja Mandara" are beautiful names, and they are doing all the work in the first three seconds — but to a cold audience they carry no mechanism and no timeline. The category's proven structure puts the botanical last, as the payoff, not first, as the hook.
04 — What it would cost to get wrong
Juicy Chemistry sets it at ₹1,000. Forest Essentials at ₹1,000, with COD gated to orders above ₹3,000. RAS hangs a gift-with-purchase off a ₹1,390 threshold that sits below its hero price, so nearly every order triggers it. Dipsy gives shipping away unconditionally and gets nothing back for it.
Across 410 million shipments and 6,000+ Indian D2C brands, RTO peaked at 39.2% in November 2025 and 58% of COD orders were returned in the festive quarter; the brands that manage it were down to 21% by March 2026. On a heavy glass parcel at ₹2,999, that spread is the whole difference between a profitable ad account and an expensive one.
Beauty and personal care orders grew 41% year on year across that same D2C dataset. Nykaa's prestige segment has compounded at roughly 50% a year. The auction is getting more valuable, not less.
05 — If it were mine to run
Weeks 1–3
Discovery set priced under the hero. Review seeding on both SKUs. Claim structure and shipping threshold on the PDPs. No spend yet.
Weeks 4–8
Founder-led four-week documentation, three hooks against three formats. Small daily budget, one clean test — reading creative, not chasing ROAS.
Weeks 9–12
Push budget behind the winning hook only. Prepaid incentive to pull COD down. Retargeting off the documentation series, which is the highest-intent audience you'll own.
Everything above came from public data — the Ad Library, your site, their sites, their filings. The interesting version needs the two numbers only you have: what a Dipsy customer is actually worth over a year, and what you can afford to pay for the first one. Give me thirty minutes and I'll walk you through exactly what I'd launch in the first 30 days. No deck, no pitch — and if the answer is "not yet, build proof first", I'll tell you that instead.
Ad counts, ad copy, Library IDs and run dates were read directly from the Meta Ad Library (India, active ads) on 1–2 September 2026. Prices and on-site mechanics were read from each brand's own store. Financials are from public reporting of MCA filings and company announcements. No figure here is modelled or estimated. India-specific Meta CPM and CPC benchmarks for beauty were deliberately left out — no credible published source for them exists, and the ones circulating online mix geographies.
